The Museum of Failure is Just a Gallery of Trying

I think someone named it wrong.

A museum of failure sounds like a place filled with endings. But every time I imagine walking through one, I don't see failure at all. I see a room full of people who simply tried. The first draft that never became the final one. The application that didn't receive a reply. A coffee cup left untouched because someone got too caught up chasing an idea they weren't ready to let go of.

It's strange how we only preserve the things that worked out. We frame certificates, promotions and smiling photographs, but never the hundreds of ordinary days that came before them. Nobody keeps the notebook with pages crossed out so many times the paper almost gave up. Nobody puts a rejection email behind glass. Nobody hangs the train ticket from the interview that led nowhere.

I think those things deserve a place too.

Not because they're reminders of failure. But because they're proof that, at one point, someone believed in something enough to begin. That feels far more beautiful than the ending itself.

Perhaps we've misunderstood failure all along. We walk into a room filled with effort, hope, persistence and ordinary people doing their best, and we call it failure simply because it didn't become the story we expected.
