2025 returned me to MYSELF
There are some years jo bas… shaanthi se flip your entire soul without making any noise.
2025 was that year for me.
A year I didn’t plan for, didn’t ask for, but somehow… jo needed tha..
I walked into this year thinking effort is everything.
That if you love something enough .... a person, a friendship, a dream ... if you pour all your time, energy, and heart into it…
it will stay.
It will grow.
It will be yours.
But turns out…
sometimes the more you water something, the more it grows away from you.
Sometimes effort doesn’t build foundations.
Sometimes it builds illusions.
I kept doing “my best” for things that were slowly draining me.
I kept telling myself,
"Yeh toh perfect lag raha hai… toh I must be doing the right thing."
But perfect from outside can still be breaking you from inside.
And that’s exactly what I didn’t see .... till everything finally broke.
And honestly?
Maybe the breaking was the blessing.
Because somewhere in the middle of crying over people who walked out, trying to fix things that weren’t mine to fix, and losing parts of myself just to keep others comfortable…
God finally whispered,
“Bas. No more.”
And just like that, something in me changed.
Not suddenly.
Not dramatically.
Just… araaamse...that actually shocked me too..
Like the way dawn appears ... slow, gentle, impossible to ignore.
I learned that the safest, strongest loves are the low-maintenance ones.
The ones where you don’t have to perform or put in efforts always just to make it stay.
The ones where you don’t have to exhaust your soul to belong.
My family... they love me without any conditions or explanations.
They don’t need versions of me.
They don’t need explanations.
They’ll love me even when I’m not trying.
They’ll die for me without me proving myself.
And then there are the few friendships .... not 20, not 50 ... just a tiny handful…
People who don’t drain me,
don’t take advantage,
don’t expect me to twist myself just to fit their comfort.
These are the ones worth keeping.
The ones that stay even when you stop over-explaining.
The ones that don’t punish you for being honest.
I learned that I don’t need to tell everyone everything.
Privacy is peace.
Silence is protection.
And not everyone deserves front-row seats to your life ... some people are meant to watch from far, some from the exit door.
This year taught me that not every goodbye is a loss.
Some goodbyes free you.
Some detachments feel like heartbreak but are actually God pulling you away from storms you didn’t see coming.
And people pleasing?
Ughhhh.
I was the CEO of that.
Always giving the “right answer,” the “expected answer,” the “don’t-get-mad-at-me” answer.
But eventually, I saw the truth:
Some people only love the version of you that bends, breaks, and sacrifices for them.
The moment you say something they didn’t want to hear?
They leave.
And honestly… good.
Let them.
If one honest answer can break a bond, it wasn’t a real bond.
Now I’m learning how to choose myself without guilt.
How to detach without turning cold.
How to give love without losing myself.
How to trust God’s plan more than my fears.
Because at the end of the day, you only have:
God.
Your family.
A tiny circle of real friends.
And your own heart ... the one thing you should’ve protected from the start.
And maybe… just maybe… that’s enough.
Actuallyyyyy, that’s more than enough.
2025 didn’t make me stronger.
It made me softer, calm in the right places, tougher in the needed places, and wiser in the places where I used to be blind.
And as this year ends…
I’m not stepping into 2025 as the same girl.
I’m stepping in as someone who finally knows what .. and who .... is worth her effort.
And who never was.
