Hobby Hai, Career Nahi
Somewhere along the way, hobbies became another performance.
If you say you like reading, people ask what genre. If you say you dance, they ask where you learnt. If you say you sing, they ask competition jeeta kya?
Relax bhai. I just like doing it.
A hobby doesn’t need a resume. It doesn’t need productivity. It doesn’t need an audience.
It just needs to make your brain go quiet for five minutes.
I like things that make me feel soft. Like drinking coffee slowly even when there’s no “reason”. Like walking with earphones on and imagining fake scenarios (very important skill). Like cleaning my room at night because somehow that fixes my life. Like journaling nonsense that only I will ever read. Like dancing in my room with zero choreography and full confidence.
None of this is impressive. But it feels good. And that’s literally the point.
But desi society has different ideas.
“Isse kya fayda?” “Isme future hai?” “Isse paisa milega?”
Bro… it gives me peace.
That’s the return on investment.
Not everything has to turn into a skill, a side hustle, or a personality trait. Some things are just for you. No validation. No output. No pressure.
I don’t want hobbies that make me tired. I want hobbies that feel like exhaling.
Things I do when I don’t want to be useful.
.... I want to be alive.....
And honestly, the moment a hobby starts feeling like an obligation? I’m out. Life already gives enough deadlines, thank you.
So if your hobby is:
-making playlists no one asked for
- saving reels you’ll never recreate
-doing skincare like it’s therapy
-writing but not posting
-baking at 2 AM
- staring at the ceiling and overthinking (okay maybe not this one)
It still counts.
Because joy doesn’t need to justify itself.
Hobbies aren’t meant to impress people. They’re meant to hold you gently when the world is too loud.
And if it feels good???? Bas hogaya bhaiyyaa...
Always has been.
