Proof that happiness is cheap: Dosa+Coffee

Went alone today. Didn’t even overthink it much (which is shocking lol). Just felt like it. So got up, wore my comfy tee & shorts, tied my hair in that messy half-clip thing, and walked out.

Honestly, on the way I was slightly self-conscious. Like, “people are gonna think I have no friends or something.” But then I was like .... whatever. I do have friends. They're just... busy or imaginary or named dosa and filter coffee today.

Anyway. Reached the place, found a tiny corner table. Ordered without doing that awkward “umm” because I already knew what I wanted. Dosa & filter coffee. Obv. The waiter gave that slight smirk, maybe because I was alone, maybe because I smiled like a fool while ordering. Idk.

While waiting, I just scrolled aimlessly. Didn’t even properly see what was on my phone. Brain was half floating around .... thinking about college, home, random people who aren’t in my life anymore, the usual drama.

Then the dosa came. Hot, crispy, smelling like heaven. Coconut chutney sitting there all innocent. Took the first bite and literally closed my eyes for half a second. So. Freaking. Good. Like, why do I ever run behind complicated things when THIS exists?

And then filter coffee arrived. Brooo. That steel tumbler & davara .... actual serotonin. Took that first careful sip (burnt my tongue a little, not learning my lesson since 2004). But still... felt like a warm hug.

Sat there for a good 30 mins, eating slow, sipping slower. Watching people come and go. Couples, families, noisy kids. It felt peaceful being there alone. Like I was part of the noise but still had my own little bubble.

Somewhere in between, I thought .... “this is probably what contentment feels like noh?” Just me, a plate of dosa, a tumbler of filter coffee, and absolutely no pressure to talk or be anything more.

So ya. If anyone asks me what love looks like to me right now .... it’s literally dosa & filter coffee. Supreme. Undisputed. Forever.
